Lower the outboard until it is resting solidly on the stern brackets. Engage the tilt support lever or trailering bracket. To access the fluid reservoir, tilt the outboard all the way up. To ensure proper operation of the Trim and Tilt and its built-in impact protection system, the fluid must be at the correct level. Otherwise its operation and service procedures are similar to FasTrack units. This unit combines the trim and tilt functions in a single ram it has no separate trim range. Many outboards have a single-ram trim and tilt unit. This reverses the direction of fluid flow, causing the outboard to move DOWNWARD. When you push the Trim and Tilt switch DOWNWARD, the relays reverse the direction of current flow to the electric motor. Newer models incorporate two relays in a single module. Older models have two individual relays, one for up and other for down. Trim and Tilt relays, located on the engine, control current flow from the battery to the electric motor. The fluid forces the pistond outward, moving the outboard UPWARD through the trim and tilt ranges. When the Trim and Tilt switch is pushed UPWARD, the electrical motor drives the hydraulic pump, forcing fluid into the bottom of the trim and tilt rams. Internal pressure release valves prevent the unit from moving the outboard into the tilt range while it is under power. Only the large center tilt ram supports the outboard in the tilt range. The tilt range runs from 22 to 75 degrees. In the trim range the short trim rams contact the swivel bracket. On models that use a FasTrak unit, the trim range runs from 0 to 21 degrees. Most large outboards will move until the Trim and Tilt switch is released, or the outboard reaches the limits of the Trim and Tilt range. Both Power Trim and Power Tilt are operated by pushing the Trim and Tilt switch in the desired bow direction-either bow up or bow down. By absorbing much of the energy upon impact, the tilt ram helps prevent the outboard from breaking off the transom, or flipping over into the boat. This safety feature is an important function of the Power Trim and Tilt System. The single tilt ram also serves as a shock absorber if the outboard strikes a submerged object. The Fast Trak hydraulic unit consists of a pump manifold assembly containing all valving,a body with two trim rams a tilt ram and a fluid reservoir. We will first examine the FasTrak and Tilt unit, which has three rams, later we will look at units with single rams. The Power Trim and Tilt unir located between, and attached to, the stern brackets. The remote and Trim and Tilt switch controls the electric motor that drives the hydraulic pump. Hydraulically operated Trim and Tilt rams raise and lower the angle of the outboard. The power Tilt raises and lowers the outboard for trailering, mooring, beaching, launching and servicing. Pushing the button DOWN trims in the outboard, which lowered the bow.

Pushing the trim button UP trims out the outboard, which raises the boat´s bow. The Power Trim adjusts the outboard´s angle for different water conditions- improving the boat´s acceleration, speed, and the ride quality. This system is used to adjust the vertical angle of the outboard.

Most Evinrude and Johnson outboards are equipped with a Power Trim and Tilt System. We use only the best input components and every part that ships out of our warehouse has been tested prior to boxing which provides us with some of the lowest failure rates in the marine engine parts industry. This section examines the principles of operation, maintenence, and troubleshooting of a Power Trim and Tilt System. We over engineer our parts to exceed and outlast O/E standards, often times engineering out any part deficiencies. Established in 1960, we were pioneers in the O/E replacement parts segment and have a reputation synonymous with premium quality and part reliability. We stand behind our product and its quality.ĪRCO Marine is a USA based manufacturer located in Pensacola FL.
#REPLACING SEALS ON POWER TILT TRIM MERCURY MOTOR PROFESSIONAL#
Should a customer endure additional labor costs for a professional installation, ARCO will reimburse said customer. However, if we determine an ARCO product to be defective under proper instillation and utilization conditions, we are obl i gated to replace or repair the product or issue a refund of the purchase price. We believe that the best warranties are the ones you never have to use. All motors must meet or exceed OEM performance before being boxed. All motors performance tested at 5 different load levels.
